W3 (Full) Professorship for Human Genomics

The Rostock University Medical Center intends to establish an Institute for Human Genomics. Therefore, the University Medical Center seeks to fill, subject to budgetary regulations, at the earliest possible date, a W3 (Full) Professorship for Human Genomics according to the regulations of the „§ 61 Landeshochschulgesetz Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (LHG M-V)”, as a permanent employment. A private-law contract with the University Medical Center will be established describing the terms of your service in research, teaching and patient care.

You will represent "Human Genomics" in research and teaching and, possibly, you will provide patient care as a specialist in genetics (Facharzt für Genetik). We are looking for a researcher who is internationally recognized in the field of human genomics. Apart from knowledge of human genetics, extensive experience is expected in the field of the genome-based regulation of gene and protein expression, including high-throughput sequencing and data analysis as well as their clinically relevant application with respect to the pathogenesis of monogenic and complex diseases.  

Openness for interdisciplinary collaboration and translational research is assumed. The tasks also include teaching, particularly in human medicine, dentistry, medical biotechnology and biomedical engineering.

The prerequisites for the position are given by § 58 Abs. 1 LHG M-V. In particular, this includes a completed university degree, doctorate, habilitation or equivalent academic achievements.

The Rostock University Medical Center is aiming at sustained academic profile with a focus on "Regenerative Medicine" within the framework of the academic focus areas "Biomedical Engineering / Biomaterials", "Neurosciences" and "Oncology," and the University profile initiative "Aging of the Individual and Society", to which you are expected to contribute.
